![]() ![]() Just pick one of the games and presto, the app starts streaming one of the available stations. Not all the stations from GTA IV are available yet, but the developer says more are coming soon. This free app streams stations from Grand Theft Auto III, Liberty City Stories, Vice City, Vice City Stories, San Andreas, and Grand Theft Auto IV. GTA Radio puts Grand Theft Auto's radio stations on your Android phone. If you've ever wished you could listen to those stations without having to fire up your game console, now you can. (The Public Liberty Radio station is bust-a-gut funny.) Indeed, these in-game stations play not only a huge variety of commercial tunes (in GTA IV alone, you'll find everything from Count Basie to Genesis to Kanye West), but also some crackling DJ banter and hilarious fake ads. Not so much for the gratuitous violence, but for the radio stations that have become a hallmark of the series. Playing the new Grand Theft Auto: Vice City on my iPad (it's coming soon for Android) made me nostalgic for other GTA games. However close inspection of the ad shows that the correct name is OR-Bit, besides that there is not ‘FM’ and evidences that it is a radio station. With GTA Radio for Android, you get all the great Grand Theft Auto radio stations without having to buy the games. It is not clear whether these stations were originally intended to be ‘real’ stations but dropped during development, or if they were simply designed to sit alongside other fake brands advertised in the game.Īnother possible non-selectable station is what has been referred to as Orbit FM. They are Liberty FM, WLLC ‘The Zone’ and Liberty Soul FM. However, these are not available for selection at any time during the game and have no songs or DJs associated with them. There are several stations that can be seen advertised on billboards throughout Liberty City. Some examples of commercials within the game are: the Maibatsu Monstrosity adverts ("Mine is bigger!"), Fernando's New Beginnings ("A revolutionary new way to save your marriage."), the given phone number of which is 555-9292, and the new video game Pogo the Monkey ("He's got springs for legs!"). The website displays pictures of animals and promises "If it's got a central nervous system, we've got it ready to go in a box to your house", tying in with the humour in the commercials. Rockstar actually created these websites, and though many links just eventually lead back to the Rockstar site, some are really quite detailed. Several adverts mention telephone numbers and official websites. They are fairly convincing as real adverts as they adhere to many typical marketing clichés and tricks. They are all written by Dan Houser and Lazlow (the latter of whom also produced them). The myriad commercials that appear throughout the game deserve a special mention. The following persons are credited for guest voices: On this station Lazlow talks with guests and callers (mainly citizens of Liberty City).
